There has never been a more critical time for Haven as an organization to look deep within the company and draw on our greatest resources - our staff. The nursing home profession is facing a serious crisis in nursing recruitment and retention and it is up to us to face the challenge and meet the needs of our organization.

The Career Advancement Program is a proactive response to solving the nursing shortage. We have determined that the greatest potential for resolving this shortage lies within our own employees and especially our Certified Nurses Aide. This team of employees has communicated a strong desire to pursue a career in the nursing profession; they desire to remain caring for our residents while advancing their careers and their own personal quality of life.

It is the goal of the Career Advancement Program to extend to our own employees an opportunity to become a Licensed Practical Nurse and eventually a Registered Nurse by offering Haven scholarships to select employees.

Selection Process

Through a formal application process, employees who are eligible for participation will receive a fully paid scholarship to an accredited nursing school approved by Haven. The Career Advancement Selection Committee will review each candidate’s application.

Upon successful review, chosen applicants will receive a formal interview with the Selection Committee at which time they will have the opportunity to promote their desire and suitability to be accepted into the program. Acceptance into the program will be based on specific criteria addressed in the application process and a successful interview with the selection committee. Available slots will be limited, so acceptance will be competitive.

Eligibility Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Certified Nurses Aide or direct patient care experience
  • One year employment with Haven Healthcare
  • Satisfactory work performance
